Guides, FAQs, and protocols to help you get the most out of your system
The single-use IsoCode chips are at the core of our technology and required to run our single-cell profiling assays on the fully automated IsoLight instrument. Each IsoCode chip allows you to measure the secreted cytokine profile of thousands of single cells in parallel for 25+ cytokines at a time. Targeted cytokines released by the cells are being captured by an antibody barcode array and quantified by the IsoLight instrument. Please visit our solutions pages for a general overview and availability of specific IsoCode analyte panels.
IsoCode chips are used in conjunction with our IsoLight instrument and IsoSpeak bioinformatics platform. One single-use chip is needed per experimental condition and can be used to analyze up to three cell surface marker phenotypes. 35 ul of your stimulated single-cell suspension (~4.5×104 cells) is simply pipetted into the loading port of the Isocode chip and the chip loaded onto the fully automated IsoLight instrument to do the rest.
Our IsoCode technology, while built on the ELISA principle, is fundamentally different, as it allows you to determine the functional secretion profile of thousands of single cells in a highly mutliplexed and high-throughput manner. You can think of the IsoCode as a multiplexed secreted protein assay for each cell, performed across thousands of cells simultaneously. The most important distinction is the type of data generated and what it allows you to do. Often, measuring bulk cytokine secretion levels using multiplexed ELISAs from blood serum or cell culture supernatants will not provide meaningful differences between groups of patients, e.g., responders versus non-responders, whereas the single cell IsoCode technology has demonstrated the ability to do just that. Please check out some of our recent publications for more details.
The acronym SCBC (Single-Cell Barcode Chip) has been used in the literature, and our technology’s commercial brand is the IsoCode chip.

The list price per chip varies, but the price includes all consumables required to run the assay. Chips are sold in kits of 4, 6 and 8 chips. Please check out our solutions pages and contact our sales team to request a quote.
Yes, you can run fewer than the max number of chips contained in a given kit. However, as the liquid consumables cartridge and detection reagents are specific for your kit you will not be able to run the unused chips in a separate run. For example, if you purchased a 6 chip set but are only running 5 experiments, then you will need to forgo any unused chips.
We offer panels specific for human and mouse samples. For details, please check out our solutions pages.
